In the heart of Craiova, we are creating a place of reconnection for every generation. We want to open a meeting space where art can question science, and education for protecting nature can become ecological awareness, all in a setting where everyone feels protected and heard.
Beyond palaces, a legacy of generosity
The history of Craiova bears the discreet but immense mark of the great philanthropist Jean Mihail. Beyond the splendor of the palace on Calea Unirii, now a museum, Jean Mihail left us a precious lesson in altruism and a vision dedicated to community progress.
In 1936, through one of the most impressive philanthropic gestures in Romania's history, he left his entire fortune to the state, wishing it to serve culture and the public good. The I.C. Michail Cultural Foundation was established in December 1936.
The “I.C. Michail” Cultural Association was born in 2021 from a moral duty and a deep admiration for Craiova's greatest philanthropist. We are not only a new organization, but a symbolic and committed continuation of his testamentary wish.

We live in a world where screens became false windows to reality, windows that do not smell like wet soil after rain, that cannot transmit the thrill of a successful experiment, and cannot replace the look of an elder telling a true story. At ARK9, we close the screen and open the world. We invite children to touch, fail, ask, build, and simply be curious.
But not all children start from the same place. Some come from families that cannot afford to dream out loud. Some grow up where no one has ever told them they are capable of great things. For them, ARK9 is not just a center, it is a chance. An open door in a wall they could not cross alone.
That is why community matters. There is no ARK9 without people who choose to believe in it. Every donation, small or large, becomes part of a shared sky built star by star, person by person. A sky under which children understand they are not alone and that the world has room for their curiosity.
You can light a star in this sky. And sometimes, a single star is all a child needs to stop being afraid of the dark.
